Not every integration needs custom code.

Where a maintained connector already covers your platform, fields, and volume — we configure and test it rather than rebuild it.

Best when: standard platform, standard fields, no unusual workflow.

Direct API integration

Odoo's external API (XML-RPC, JSON-RPC, or REST) wired directly to the other system, with authentication, field mapping, and error handling built properly.

Best when: you need control over what syncs, when, and in which direction.
Option 03

Custom middleware

A layer between systems that transforms, queues, and retries — for cases where the two sides don't agree on structure or timing.

Best when: high volume, legacy systems, or several platforms at once.

Common questions

What's the difference between one-way and two-way sync?+

One-way means data flows in a single direction — for example, orders pushed from your store into Odoo, with nothing coming back. Two-way means both systems update each other, which is more powerful but needs clear rules about which side wins when they disagree. We decide this during workflow mapping, not after.

Can Odoo integrate with a system nobody has built a connector for?+

Usually yes. Odoo's external API is open and well documented, so if the other system exposes an API, a database, or even a scheduled export file, there's normally a path. Custom middleware handles the cases where the two systems don't structurally agree.

Does integration work on any Odoo hosting setup?+

It depends on the method. API-based integrations work broadly, but custom modules and middleware need environment access — which Odoo Online restricts. If integration is central to your plans, that's worth factoring into your hosting choice. We cover this on our Odoo hosting page.

How real-time is the data sync?+

Anywhere from instant to scheduled, depending on what the other system supports and what your workflow actually needs. Real-time is not always better — for high-volume data, scheduled batches are often more reliable and cheaper to run.

What happens when the other system changes its API?+

This is the most common reason integrations quietly break. Monitoring and logging are part of what we set up, so a failure surfaces as an alert rather than as missing records discovered weeks later.
